Also the Xbox Elite will have the same components that are still Made In China. I bought a Xbox 360 Premium in Oct 2006 and now it gave me a 3 red ring light. Im planning to return it and get my money back. Im not confident and playing xbox console anymore.

UK-based games consoles repair company Micromart has been fixing video game systems for over a decade. On its website it advertises that it will repair PlayStation 2, original Xbox, PSP and replace screens for other handheld systems.

Micromart, which used to repair the Xbox 360, has posted a notice on its website that it “has now withdrawn from offering a repair service for the dreaded 3 Red Lights fault.”

The company states that, “This problem is endemic on the Xbox 360 console and the volume has made this repair non-viable.” Micromart will also no longer fix Xbox 360 consoles that display screen freezing problems. The company, however, will continue to support all other repairs to the consoles.

“We were seeing about 30 a week before we pulled the plug on the service,” said Micromart’s Jeff Croft to GamesIndustry. “We saw it over a period of several months and it was just getting worse. It began towards the end of last year. Once the twelve month warranty finished then we started to see more and more machines being sent in to be looked at.”

“The work we had done to the console lead us to believe that basically it was a fault with the motherboard and not something that could be resolved easily. And it wasn't going to go away,” continued Croft.

“We're not taking that thing on board; we won't repair them. We originally did some work with it but it's labour intensive and it isn't really a feasible repair for us to undertake. We would probably end up charging GBP 100 [$202] for a repair and we still wouldn't be happy with the end result,” he added.

Do not buy the Elite. Buy the PS3 instead. Finally, the PS3 price drop. Starting today. 100 dollars off.
What you get should be based on how you are going to use it.

An Xbox 360 is more of a solid gamer paltform. It is seen as a more mature system due to the games and system capabilities. There are lots of multi player games for it but it is a primarily single player system tht will let you play with people from all over the world.

The Wii is designed with multi player in mind. Due to the pleasant simplicity of the games it is seen as a more family friendly system. It seems that it has a greater mumber of multi player games than the other systems on the market.

So If you will be playing it usually by yourself, 360

If you will be palying with friends the WiiXbox 360 ?
I think the 360s they are stocking the shelves with now have an extended warranty, about 3 years if I remember correctly. Take that into consideration if you're worried about them breaking.

I also read somewhere that they will overheat if you play more than 3 or 4 hours at a time, so just be careful.

...but how else will you be able to play Halo 3? :) which, by the way, has a great internet multiplayer system.
Get the 360 cuz the overheating problems dont really occur 2 much if u get a new 360 made in the pas month cuz im sure microsoft learned from there mistakes, and Wii is mostly aimed 2wards young kids and familys who jus want 2 play and not care nething about graphicsXbox 360 ?
i wouldn't worry about it breaking or over heating... the only reason ppl had problems with them is because they would move the xbox 360 when it was on, with a disk in it and the disk would then get scratched really bad then the stuff that comes off the disk from being scratched melts over time on the hard drive then causing it to over heat and not work... so all and all i would go after the 360 if u are over 12 and if u do get one don't move it around with a disk in it while it's running.
yep the ring of death is what theyr calling it but u can get the extended warranty like at gamestop jsut bring it in if it breaks they give u a new one but yea i would get a 360 just for the simple fact of HALO 3 and BLUE DRAGON
Well, from what i've heard..... microsoft has extended it's warranty on ALL xbox 360 systems to 3 years no matter what so if anything happens to your system (and yes, there is a chance something will happen. Mine recently died after only 2 months of ownership, but microsoft sent me a box to ship it to their repair facility in Texas at no cost to me at all.) it will be covered by warranty for a while.

The nintendo Wii is great, but it is mostly a novelty system because there aren't any fantastic games out for it yet. (with the exception of a few like Wii Sports, Zelda:twilight princess, and cooking mama which is a simple, but addicting game.)

The graphics capability is good, but not as good as the 360. The thing that the Wii really has got going for it is the interactivity. With games like Wii sports, for example, you get up off your butt and you get into the games. Aside from Wii Sports I have yet to play a game that has gotten players as involved as that. Super paper mario is great, but that could be done on any console. There isn't anything about it that makes it specifically for the Wii only. Whereas Wii sports uses the wii-remote to it's fullest to make it a fun experience.

I own both of these consoles and I have to say that it's definitely a difficult decision to make. Luckily for me my fiancee bought me the 360 as a gift so i only had to spend my money on the Wii.

The consoles both have in common the shops. Wii has the wii shop where you can download new "channels" (news channel, weather channel, internet browser channel) and you can download older games from previous consoles. (virtual console) Microsoft went above and beyond with their "shop" called the "Xbox live marketplace" where you can download old arcade games as well, but you can also download game demos, movies, TV Shows, and themes to change the appearance of the xbox navigation interface.

Another thing that xbox has going for it above the wii is xbox live. The wii has wireless internet capability but as of right now it's only use is to download updates, send messages, share Mii characters and download virtual console games/channels. Whereas xbox live gives you all of the marketplace features as well as voice chat with other players, online gaming with other players, and video chat. (if you have the xbox live vision camera) There are even some xbox arcade games that you can download (Uno %26amp; texas hold em' for example) that allow you to have the video camera on while you play so you can see the other players.

Personally, i think the xbox 360 is more of an entertainment console since you have so much media at your fingertips. The wii is fun too, but if you're tossed up between the two i'd say go for the 360. Sure, it has problems.... but if your console dies you can get it repaired for free. All that is required is a little patience.

Make sure that you grab the premium bundle 360 if you want to get onto xbox live because it has everything you need to get yourself started. It's got the wireless controller, 20Gb hard drive (Which is necessary if you want to play on xbox live AND if you want to save games without the use of the little memory cards.) and it comes with the HD cables (red blue green) which also double as your standard RCA cables (Red/yellow/white) if your TV doesn't support HD.

So anyway..... the wii is fun to play, but it loses that novelty with a lot of the games which can be incredibly annoying with the controller schemes (i.e. splinter cell double agent annoys the hell out of me on the Wii, but it's GREAT on the 360!) ... the only thing i can see the Wii having on it's side aside from the novelty is the price. If you go for a premium bundle you'll drop about 400 dollars whereas (if you can find a wii) you'll only drop about 250.

Hope this is helpful. Keep in mind that while there are many who have suffered with dying xboxes, there are those who have had not had any problems with it at all.
Well it depends on what kind of a gamer you are. If you play more fps games then the 360 is good but if you play more sports and are a more "active" gamer so to speak, the wii is good. Microsoft extended their warranty to 3 years and are planning on making a price cut on the Xbox 360 Premium to what the cost of the Xbox 360 Core System is in a few months. Also, Xbox 360 has better graphics than the Wii.
The whole thing about the 360 breaking is a bunch a bull by people who chuck there's around and using inseruce fruad. I had my 360 since launch and it had not once broke down. So if i was you i whould but a 360 cause it seems to have a very bright future.

ALSO BUY LIVE (IT IS TOTALY WORTH IT)

Oh and wait on the wii they are saying a new wii with DVD playback should be out by the end of the year
