I'm planning on buying my son a Xbox 360 for his birthday. However, he says he wants one with "Live" connection. I have no clue between the different ones. Does anyone know which one uses live?Which XBOX 360 system uses the Live to play with online friends?
if he is going to use live alot i would get an elite, it is one of the more expensive but the others dont really have enough hardrive space. you will also need atleast a silver subscripsion card so that he can play online. if he wants to be able to make an avatar, join groups, use headsets to talk to other people or really anything other than just playing you need a gold membership. (you can buy membership card from stores like walmart and target)
Um...all of them use live man... all you need is high speed, xbox live sumscriptions, and an ethernet cable goin to your modem or routerWhich XBOX 360 system uses the Live to play with online friends?
you have to buy live card any but silver edition will do... i would suggest getting him an xbox elite
They all have live capability. But they all come with different hard drive capacity. You need more capacity to hold your information of Gamerscore and live records. If he wont play much, get the Arcade. If he will play moderately, buy the Pro. If he plays a ton, get the Elite.Which XBOX 360 system uses the Live to play with online friends?
They all have live. In order to play online multiplayer games, he will need a gold membership. The 360 comes with 30 days for free. After that it costs about $50 a year.
There are 3 versions of the 360 on the market.
Arcade: no hard drive, has memory stick, white
Pro or Premium: 60GB hard drive, white
Elite: 120GB hard drive, black
I recomend the Pro. The hard drive gives you much more flexibility to download content. The 60GB is more than enough for most users so you probably will not need the 120GB Elite.
All versions of the 360 are capable of connecting to Live. It's just that some come bundled with add-ons. If you have a choice, go with the Pro version. It has everything he'll need. Also, keep in mind that Live is not a good place for kids. If he's under 16, he shouldn't be playing on there. The average Live gamer is 30 I believe and it's not an appropriate place for a child.
Al'right man heres what you need to know
all xbox's have xbox live the pro elite arcade, etc. You also have to have a high speed internet (DSL) and it costs but its totally worth the price.
first time sign up you get one month free of gold
after that its as listed bellow
7.00 you get 1 month
20.00 you get 3 months
50.00 you get 13 months.
but if you buy it from the xbox web site its cheaper than buying it from wal mart or kmart because you don't have to pay a middle man
all of them do.
if there are no ethernet cables to plug into the console then get an Xbox Wireless Networking Adapter-$99.99
xbox LIVE12+1 month subscription card-$49.97, at that rate it is $4.18 per month for 364 days
Wired Headset(optional)-$9.99
an extra controller for a friend(optional)-$49.99
if you do not purchase an Xbox 360 elite ($399.99) then Xbox 360 60GB/120GB HDD-$90-$150(optional)
1600 Microsoft Points card/4000 Microsoft points card-$19.99/$49.99(optional, these are used for game-enhancement and video, TV shows, Music videos, Arcade Games, etc.)
They are all capable of live connections, but you need a broadband connection at home and also need to pay additional subscription fees for Live membership(拢5 a month).
If you want to use it on a wireless network and not plug it straight into the modem/router, you will need to buy a wireless adapter specifically for xbox which costs an additional 拢50 or so.
Don't buy an arcade version - the latest dashboard update that you need for Live takes up the whole memory unit supplied so you will just end up buying a hard drive or more memory units straight away,
hey friend, all of the xbox 360 have the ability to play online. all you will need is an ethernet cable (provided with most xboxs) and a high speed internet conection and then finally a subscription to xbox live.
and thats it you and your son will be online within minutes.

All Xbox 360 consoles come ready to play Xbox Live. Every console comes w/ free 1 month of live so you won't have to buy any right away. I would recommend the "PRO" system because it comes w/ everything you need like a headset to communicate and it is in the MID level price range.
All of them are xbox live capable, which is what your son means. They go online. It would be the best idea to buy a pro or elite system though cause they're the most online ready. Ask the retailer for the small spec differences. Xbox live is gaming online and comes as a service with a fee, best bet is to grab a year subscription if you can. Here's the breakdown:
1 month: Might come on the xbox, not available in stores
3 month: $20
1 Year: $50 (Best buy)
This is what I would reccomend:
Get a "Pro System" (It's white), and grab a one year if you want you're kid to have xbox live. Everything he needs for the best experience will be included with the system and you won't need anything but games for the year.
