I've also noticed there is always hair and dust on top of my Xbox 360 somtimes and when I wipe it off with my hand it ussualy grows back. Is it because my Xbox 360 is sitting on the carpet? Can somone also tell me how to prevent dust getting into the Xbox 360 so it won't get damaged, and also a few other tips to keep my Xbox 360 in good shape?

2. Buy an intercooler if you play a lot

4. VERY IMPORTANT--- Lay it down horizantely because if it tips it scratches up your game beyond repair.

I play Xbox 360, and I would NEVER put mine on the carpet. I suggest standing it upright with the hard drive on the top. Wipe it down daily with a dry cloth too keep dust from collecting and make sure it is in a cool room, especially in the summer.

yes dont put it on the carpet...and like others said limit your playing time ...the longer you play the hotter yoour xbox gets causing it to overheat

my xbox is on like 12 hrs a day sum times when i sleep it's on and my xbox stoped working after a year and 3 months and i did not have a cooler on the back of my xbox. geting it fixed as i talk lol

No matter how good you are to your 360, some systems (from all generations) will suffer a system/ hardware failure, also known as the RED RINGS OF DEATH (RROD) Microsoft has fixed both of my consoles free of charge and all i had to do was ship it out to them (free) I got my consoles back in a week.

I'd put it in a well ventilated TV-Center and try not to use it for extended periods of time. People insist the Red Ring of Death is caused by the glue holding together the motherboard coming apart or the motherboard warping or something.

my tips are...
1.buy the intercooler, the intercooler will keep your system from overheating, and destroying the console
2. get the 360 off of the carpet...preferably on a table...just away from the ground
I would suggest moving your Xbox 360 off of the carpet, they tend to get hot during extended periods of play. Wiping the exterior with a dry cloth is a good way to get rid of the dust. I have NYKO intercooler and it works great at cooling the 360 down, I would recommend getting it. Also make sure that you do not move/shake the console while a disc is in the optical drive this can cause serious problems.
